Spotify, Parcast Studios (now Spotify Studios)

For over 5 years, Mallory wrote and edited scripted true crime and dark history podcasts for Spotify’s Parcast Studios on a freelance, then full-time basis. Spotify closed Parcast Studios in June 2023, folding it into Spotify Studios.

Mallory coaches undergraduate and graduate students as they produce a daily news radio show/podcast.

AAJA Voices, Voices of Monterey Park July 2023

Mallory guided and supervised this two-episode podcast, looking back on the 2023 Monterey Park shooting that was produced as part of the Asian American Journalists Association VOICES Program for college students.

Harvard student Ryan Doan-Nguyen interviewed Brandon Tsay, who disarmed the gunman, and his Harvard classmate, activist David Hogg. The episodes were produced, edited, and sound designed by River Zhang.

The podcast is a companion to the group’s long-form text article that has been republished by the LA Public Press.
